1. You need to register with an email address, a password and username. No other information is required.

2. A payment of GBP£12.00 per membership will entitle you to upload onto the site 200 items for sale in one year. The year runs from the day before you sign up on the following year. So, if you registered, say on 15th. January 2005, your membership will expire on the 14th. January 2006. If you find you are really going great guns getting rid of all those FQ's which you've been meaning to do something with for years and 200 spaces aren't enough, then all you need to do is take out another membership. You can take out as many as you wish, to run either consecutively or concurrently.

Once payment is made, you will receive an email which will enable you to complete registration. and you will be able to immediately go to the site and begin selling.

Although this site emphasises selling FQ's, you will find there are categories for all quantities of fabric and almost everything to do with accessories for patchworking and quilting, plus items made of cloth patchwork.

3. To place an advert on the site, you will need to complete a form for each item. This is perfectly straightforward and involves uploading a photograph from your own computer. It is very important every relevant part of the form is completed because buyers will want to know the distances involved for postage for example. Others will be looking for particular designers on the search facility and so on. The only address visible to a buyer is the email address and username you choose to use.

You will need to place each item into it's own category and sub-category. For example you may have an FQ which could be described equally as 'Children's' or 'Fantasy'. 'Fantasy' would become the sub-category. Similarly where the major category is 'Natural World', sub categories could be, 'Sky'; 'Water'; 'Animals'; 'Birds' and so on.

When you have sold all of the item you want to sell, we would ask you to please remove the item entirely from the site immediately. Otherwise you will get unwanted email from hopeful buyers and we will will get unhappy emails from people thwarted from doing so. You will have noticed the great advantage of FQ.net is that fabric you bought a huge quantity of, thinking it would prove to be just the thing for a bridal quilt (not too much work), can be advertised exactly as you like as regards quantities. So if you decide to break it up into 20 FQ's, or whatever, you have paid for all the ads. with just the one. It stays there until you remove it.

4. Postage costs. There is a great temptation to become a 'postage pirate' something seen a lot of on Ebay, for example. Many people use postage and packing to make up the price of the item they are selling to disguise extra profit. It is dishonest and people are not fooled. On the contrary they tend to get annoyed and decide not to buy rather than be ripped off. If we find it is happening, we will close down the membership of the seller concerned, with no refunds.

The UK has some of the highest postage rates in the world, but if you are sending a single fat quarter, all that is required is an ordinary brown envelope, a piece of paper with the details of the transaction and the fabric itself. Even allowing for 32p for the first class stamp and an expensive envelope, the charge should not exceed 65p when delivery is in the United Kingdom. Additional charges for multiple items should not exceed between 25p and 30p per extra item. Some FQ's are certainly slightly heavier than others. Sellers who exaggerate their postal costs will find it difficult to compete with honest traders on this site. It is far better to reckon on a 'true' profit on your item for sale, including it in the price, than load on obvious 'hidden charges'.

We will also block anything being placed on the site which may cause offence in any way.
